Taste the heat!
Stadthaus Restaurant & Bar, on the ground floor of the Steigenberger Hotel Hamburg, was already almost fully fitted out at the start of the project. With an open show kitchen where ingredients are perfectly cooked by the heat of the Marana oven and the charcoal of the Josper grill, the dining concept clearly stood in the sign of the power of fire. At the same time, it focused on a shared dining experience that creates togetherness through its sharing approach – right in the heart of Hamburg, on the water-surrounded Fleetinsel. The task was to give this impressive ground-floor space of the hotel a distinctive visual identity that excites hotel guests and Hamburg locals alike.

The visual concept picks up on the historical significance of the location, whose name also gave the new restaurant its own. The bridges surrounding the Stadthaus serve as the central motif. A stylised bridge arch and the surrounding water form a minimalist, iconic mark. Harmony, flow, yin and yang, reinterpreted. This visual element is complemented by a typeface that picks up hinted serifs as a classic element and translates the kitchen and bar's innovative, unfiltered flavours into a contemporary typeface.

The branding's colour world is also strongly inspired by the architecture of the location: the warm brick and the golden metal elements of the bridges. But also by the central element of the dining concept – fire and charcoal. A vivid red, elegant gold and a purist grey palette form a powerful, dynamic interplay of colour that still feels Hanseatically restrained and fits harmoniously into its surroundings.

As a visual highlight, hinted coal dust underlines the raw, handcrafted and vibrant character that defines the Stadthaus and its unique dining experience. This detail emphasises the interplay of tradition and modern culinary craft, and gives the entire brand identity a distinctive expression.
